Donald J. Weisbeck, 80, of Herreid, S.D.

Donald Weisbeck Donald Weisbeck Donald J. Weisbeck, 80, of Herreid, S.D., died Friday, March 29, 2013, at a Eureka, S.D. hospital.

Donald was born on July 23, 1932 in Herreid, the son of Herman and Marie (Schall) Weisbeck. He was raised on a farm west of Herreid.

Donald married Cyrella Keller on Oct. 2, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hague.

Following their marriage, they settled on a farm four miles west of Herreid. He was a dairy farmer and did custom baling where he traveled throughout North Dakota.

Donald was a member of the Herreid Jaycees and a member of the Campbell County Stars Square Dancing Club. He was an avid fan of all local sports teams and the love of his life was farming.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cyrella, Herreid; seven children, Jacqueline and Terry Borr, Rapid City, S.D., Ricardo and Diane Weisbeck, Eureka, Jennifer and Gary Overby, Tracy, Calif., Jeffrey and Stephanie Weisbeck, Mesa,Ariz., Jacinta and Ed Shortzmann, Rapid City, Randall and Kathy Weisbeck, Aberdeen, S.D., and Junella and Curt Kost, Vermillion, S.D.; twenty four grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; two sisters,

Rita Fjeldheim, Herreid and Virginia Silvernagel, Bloomington, Minn.; six brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Eileen Weisbeck, Herreid, Cyril and Viola Weisbeck, Palentine, Ill., Raymond and Rose Weisbeck, Herreid, Leonard Weisbeck, Herreid, Walter and Paula Weisbeck, Prescott, Wis., Eugene and Jackie Weisbeck, Rapid City; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Weisbeck, Herreid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James, an infant granddaughter, Danyelle Weisbeck and a brother-in-law, Orland Fjeldheim.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Herreid, with Fr. Thomas Clement officiating. Organist was Deb Schuetzle. Vocal music by Julie Brandner. Scripture reader was Jason Weisbeck. Communion minister was Rita Fjeldheim and Gladys Bauer. Gift bearers were the granddaughters. Mass servers were Dalton and Dawson Schick. Special music was “Jesus Loves Me” by the great-grandchildren. Music was “How Great Thou Art,” “On Eagles’Wings,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Song of Farewell” and “Ave Maria.”

Casketbearers were the grandsons and the granddaughters, Aaron Borr,Bryce Borr, Ryan Kost, Andrew Kost, Jason Weisbeck, Alex Weisbeck, Kyle Weisbeck, Cody Weisbeck, Cory Weisbeck, Chad Weisbeck, Mathew Overby and Jordan Weisbeck.

Honorary casketbearers were the great-grandchildren and the granddaughters, Natalie Kukesh, Kayla Weisbeck, Leslee Maseman, Ashley Weisbeck, Amy Misslitz, Carly Borr, Karie Truitt, Christine Overby, Katie Kost, Allie Weisbeck. Ushers were Michael Weisbeck and Brian Fjeldheim.
